22kW On-Board Charger

Technical Description

The On-Board Charger (OBC) is the charging equipment used in Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs), responsible for converting alternating current (AC) from the grid into direct current (DC) to charge the EV battery. Its output voltage depends on the specifications of the battery system, typically available in 400V and 800V series.
This OBC is designed and manufactured using a SiC (silicon carbide) module developed by the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). It features an output capability of 800V and 22kW, suitable for charging lithium battery packs configured for 800V.
The OBC circuit designed by ITRI includes a Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuit and a bidirectional CLLC resonant DC-DC converter. Integrated with a water-cooling system, the design achieves high power density for both the module and the charging system, and also supports future Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) applications.
